Result of this investigation
The museum declined to take part in the investigation since this privately-owned institution is dedicated entirely to the work of portrait artist Theo Swagemakers (1898-1994).
About this museum and its collection
The museum, located in Pieters House which dates from 1842, features still lifes, landscapes and marines, in oils as well as watercolour: in addition to commissioned portraits, Swagemakers also produced a large amount of uncommissioned work. The artist’s studio is presented in the attic. The ground floor provides space for temporary exhibitions and work by contemporary figurative artists. The museum closed on 31 December 2011.
