The Museums Association has encouraged its members to participate in the investigation into potentially problematic acquisitions of objects belonging to Jewish owners before and during the Second World War; in particular, objects that were acquired by Dutch museums after 1933 with a problematic provenance (whether direct or not), especially objects relating to Jewish rituals. This investigation was carried out by the museums themselves. The greatest possible care and attention was paid in this investigation, with due regard to the available time and the available budget. Neither the Museums Association or its personnel, or its members, or those who actually carried out the investigation, or members of the Committee Museum Acquisitions from 1933 onwards may be held responsible for errors or discrepancies resulting from the manner in which this investigation was carried out, for the choices that were made or the consequent results.
