About this museum and its collection

Galerij Prins Willem V is part of Mauritshuis Museum. Its historical home beside Gevangenpoort on Hofvijver was recently restored to its former splendour. It features the paintings collected by Stadholder Willem V. He assembled the best of his collection in the gallery to create the country’s first museum. It features around 150 paintings, mainly by Dutch masters of the Golden Age.
