About this museum and its collection
Located in a historical burgomaster’s residence in Amsterdam built in 1664, the museum shows how women’s bags have evolved over five centuries from the late Middle Ages to the present day. Over a thousand objects, bags and accessories are on show surveying the enormous variety in form, function, material and decoration and the changes over the centuries.
