Result of this investigation

Sterkenhuis’s collection consists mainly of objects with no individually identifiable characteristics and therefore exempt from investigation. The museum reports that in the period under investigation, the museum acquired objects connected to the local population and region as well as work by local artists, mainly textiles, domestic appliances, tools, photos and topographical illustrations. Museum investigators found no objects with problematic provenance in the collection, neither has the museum any items relating to Jewish liturgy.

About this museum and its collection

Sterkenhuis is a seventeenth-century house, restored in 1913, featuring a traditional Bergen room and kitchen. Its collection features archaeological finds, local costume and items relating to the history of Bergen. Since 2012, Sterkenhuis Museum has been attached to Nieuw Kranenburg Foundation.
