Investigation results
None of the objects in this museum have problematic provenance.
Result of this investigation
The museum was unable to find any problematic acquisitions relating to the period 1933-1940, 1948-1954 and post-1955. Investigators reached this conclusion after checking information in the museum archive regarding purchases, gifts, loans and bequests, as well as checking the collection registration system and collection catalogues. Investigators also checked at RKD. The museum did not buy at SNK auctions in the years 1948-1954.
Investigators checked the provenance of fifty paintings. The museum bought a painting at an auction in Paris in 1951. This was from the collection of Adolphe Schloss a Jewish collector, and was submitted by his heirs. With regard to the post-1955 period, investigators selected 223 items with undocumented provenance. Further investigation at RKD brought no new details to light indicating that these might have been stolen, confiscated or sold under duress between 1933 and 1945.
